Neko’s Cosplay Adventures - PR Comic Con <3 

This past weekend was the biggest event of all geek culture here in my island. Puerto Rico Comic Con. And i had a month to plan two cosplays, one for each day. I decided on one relatively simple, and one a bit more challenging for me since I wanted to continue growing in terms of crafting and sewing ability. 

Saturday - Chowder (Girl version)

I decided to make a Chowder Girl Gijinka version. I love the series and i love Chowders personality. I actually made a stencil and sponge painted the fabric with the details, i had originally planned airbrushing it but it failed on me so last minute option was sponge paint lol That hat I really eyeballed from a tutorial on youtube from a little boy who made the hat also and mine came out a lot bigger lol The neck bandana piece and pink details I did the same, sponge paint and made it detachable. Also my tail which is not visible (pic below), i made watching a raccoon/fox tail tutorial <3 I originally wanted it to be a key chain but it turned out so big i made a back story to it xDD (i was turning human and it fell off so i kept it as a giant key chain) and attached it on the back of the dress lol

I took a lot of reference from fan art, that’s how I decided on the lilac wig. Everyone though the little fang was a nice derpy touch lol I got a lot more recognition and praise than I expected <3 Overall i really had fun as Chowder :3 

Sunday - Nyaruko san 

Both Chowder and Nyaruko were my first two cosplays that I sewed all myself. I think I’m most proud of Nyaruko’s cause I really wanted it to be as best looking as possible. The circle skirt pattern I had from previous cosplays, the shirt I traced a shirt I had for referenced ( and it ended up a tad too tight but it doesn’t show lol ) I watched a lot of tutorials on how to make the collar and sleeves, since i had never made either i was very nervous lol But once I got the hang of it was a piece of cake :3 The apron I completely eyeballed lol I had no pattern i just cut out pieces and checked the proportion of it to make sure it fit. Then i ruffled and pleated the details. The bow on the back (which is not visible (will put a pic below) and at one point i decided to take off) I made it detachable, i attached some heavy duty snaps. One of them I sewed rather loosely so It ended up falling off, that’s when I took the bow off lol

I was also very skeptical about my wig, mainly cause of the ahoge. Followed a tutorial on youtube and was overall really OCD about it cause im such a nut lol (wanting everything to look perfect xD) But looking at the pictures I really like how it turned out :3 A friend made the little heart shape <3 I had arrived at the con with it normal then we got bored xDD i think its adorable^^ might remake the ahoge in the near future :) 

Also, I couldn’t have been Nyaruko without her props, so I made Shanta kun’s capsule ball AND her crowbar

Overall I was really happy with my efforts. And i was happy at least 6 people knew who i was xD and even though people that didn’t still took pics lol 

Had such a blast this weekend, can’t wait for next year. Slowly but surely I feel myself getting better and better and this <3 I can only hope I help others that are also getting into cosplay. It’s never too late to start something new or something you’ve always wanted to try :3 Till next time^^
